Product Overview
Smeg FAB38RBL5AU | 481L FAB38 50's Style Retro Fridge Black Right Hinge
The iconic Smeg FAB range combines devilishly good looks with high-performance technology. Smeg's FAB fridge is often a distinctive element in the kitchen. Its rounded shapes, chromed details and bright colours are key expressions of style and personality. The profiles of the balconies and glass shelves feature bright chrome finishes with a retro design. Now available in a 70cm width, the new FAB38 offers a unique, sizable capacity to suit your storage needs.
PERFECT BLEND OF ARTISTRY & FUNCTIONALITY
Like other timeless designs, the original Smeg FAB refrigerator is more than just a mere fridge. It’s the focal point of the kitchen, bringing together unquestionable style and premium performance. Always evocative and eclectic, FAB fridges have become standard bearers for “Made in Italy” design all over the world with their inimitable blend of artistry and functionality.
DOUBLE ZONE ELECTRONIC TEMPERATURE CONTROL
The digital electronic control panel at the top of the fridge provides accurate temperature monitoring in both the fridge and freezer compartments to ensure the long life of perishable food. With three functions: ECO, fast freezing and temperature alarm, the FAB38 optimises freshness and reduces food waste. FUNCTIONS: ECO, Fast freezing, & Temperature alarm.
MULTI-COOLING NO FROST TECHNOLOGY
Thanks to the no frost system you won’t have to manually defrost the freezer as cool air is circulated inside to prevent any icy build ups and maximise storage capacity.
LIFE PLUS 0°C DRAWER
This chilling drawer provides a controlled temperature zone for better and longer preservation of perishable food such as meat, fish, fruit and vegetables and dairy products. This drawer features a perforated panel which can be adjusted to customise the compartment’s level of ventilation and humidity.
NEW ENERGY LABELS
The new energy rating label will provide the industry with more space development and allow customers to compare products much more easily. The main change is that the current efficiency bands have been scaled back to a simple A-G classification, with no further differentiation.

Why Buy?
Retro styling with genuine 481-litre capacity
The FAB38 pairs unmistakable 1950s curves with a 481-litre capacity that answers the everyday question buyers ask of any fridge freezer: will it actually hold a family shop. Chrome-edged glass shelves and door balconies sit inside a powder-coated steel body finished in black, right-hand hinged to suit most kitchen layouts.
Multi-cooling No Frost circulation keeps the freezer compartment ice-free without manual defrosting, while the digital control panel monitors both zones independently, switching between ECO running and fast freezing as needed. The Life Plus 0°C drawer holds meat, fish and dairy at a tighter, more stable temperature than the main cabinet, with a perforated panel you adjust for humidity — useful for stretching the life of fresh produce between shops.
At 706mm wide and 2060mm tall, it reads as a piece of furniture as much as a refrigerator, built to anchor a kitchen rather than disappear into it. The 4.5-star energy rating keeps running costs sensible for a fridge freezer this size, so the styling doesn't come at the expense of daily running economy.
